Fla Friends

In Orlando- where good friends Rusty & Michelle have moved, we were able to hang out with them at the Fishbone.  Importantly- Rusty has a tennis court  a few yards from his house.
Tennis 365. Nice. Forget Mickey- work on the forehand.

An American Lion

Fast Facts about Andrew Jackson- 7th President

Only President to pay off the national debt
Held public parties at the White House
Dueled and killed someone who insulted his wife
Had a temper, obviously

While in Nashville recently, I stopped off at the home of Andrew Jackson. I always try to see some history when I travel. Unless I am in Las Vegas which has no history.
Also am reading a bio of Jackson that Levi suggested, called 'The American Lion.' Jackson doesn't get the hype of Jefferson, Washington & Lincoln, but he was a big dog of a president.
Plus I always like to see him on a $20.
Seeing the Hermitage, which is maintained superbly, is a trip back in time.

Holy Land USA

Larissa strolling through the Red Sea
Jonah and a large mouth bass
                                                      Larissa and some Roman guys

This is me actually walking on the water.
                                          Usually, Jesus used a boat.
This is not the real, actual Temple of Solomon.

In Orlando- land-o of theme parks, there is The Holy Land Experience. Interesting and now owned by the folks at the Trinity Broadcast Network. Not something you want to see if you have
ever been to Israel. But I'm sure it is an inspiriation for some.

Where did these large children come from

Happy day-- Four of the Lusko children were in ABQ last weekend. A major treat.
Jesse & Josh are at Bible college and couldn't appear. Heidi, Daniel, Levi and Becca showed up at
church. As you see, Daniel is taller than me. Becca is cheating with heels.

Cliff Barrows from BGEA, our dear friend Clive from Lighthouse radio in Belize, and of course in the background, Jesus, (he is everywhere).

Noshing at the NRB in Nashville

For more years than I can count, I have been going to the National Religious Broadcasters Convention. I was there when Reagan spoke in the 80's and the Moral Majority and Christian Right were a new force to be reckoned with. It's been in D.C., Anaheim, Charlotte, and now anchored in Nashville. Meeting at the Opryland Hotel is surreal, 9 acres under glass, out of touch with reality, sort of like some aspects of NRB.
NRB has not aged well, the leaders have managed to marginalize the
fringe health and wealth wacko's (a good thing) but have failed completely to integrate the energy and youth of the Christian music & media scene. Attending NRB is now like visiting Jurassic Park.
Lots of impressive dinosaurs, but doomed to extinction. The techno ground is shifting beneath the feet of the old guard, but they are clueless, pretending that Back to the Bible is cutting edge.
Uh, no.
I do enjoy hooking up with friends from far and wide, and seeing MacArthur, Stanley or Lutzer is a treat. But where is Andy Stanley, Louie Giglio or Greg Laurie? Nowhere to be seen. End of story.
Nonetheless, there are highlights. Cliff Barrows blew my doors off with the message, Anchored in the Word, Relevant to the World. He was a lion in the pulpit. Let's leave it at that.

What a Weekend

Okay, I'm getting around to my own weekend update. Thanks Levi for lending yours temporarily.
Playing musical pulpits, Skip went to So Cal to fill in for Greg Laurie at Harvest (www.harvest.org) I planned to go, but no..... Levi came down from Montana to fill in for Skip,
so, no contest I stayed in ABQ. Even though Skip was debuting the Jesus Boat Documentary that Daniel and I just locked this week. Jesse and Josh drove up from Bible College to help at the resource table, so it was a real family affair. Meanwhile, back in Abq, after Levi blew it up preaching at 4 services, I was prepping for a night on stage with Jim Caviezel. To prepare, I watched the Passion of the Christ everywhich way but loose. With commentary by Mel Gibson, with footnotes and then special features. Painful and powerful, but I had to get ready for 90 minutes of the ultimate in special features, as Jim commented on highlights of the film that I chose. 3,000 people showed up, and it was an extraordinary night. Jim wandered a bit,
(" I am a Roman Catholic") and " I am still the Count of Monte Christo!" Interesting.
But I am a highly skilled professional, (ha!) and I reeled him in as needed. Generally, he was right on.
Loved the challenge. It was a highlight.
Monday, I blew out for Nashville, to the mixed blessing of the National Religous Broadcasters Convention. Highlights: Erwin Lutzer, Cliff Barrows & Charles Stanley. Lowlights: The name of the convention says it all. more later on the NRB.

some new video adventures.  Off to India, Austria & London.

The Ancient Jesus Boat

Daniel and I are locking down the final cut of this documentary-
It's been a sweet project. Spent over 3 weeks in Israel to shoot it.
Check out the trailer:

Easter just around the corner

Gearing up for Easter at Calvary.  Last year was huge with the Harlem Gospel Choir.
